Market Commentary:

Although I just recommended a few buys on Monday of this week, the market indicators show that a new up leg is starting. Stocks are breaking out and I feel now is the right time to add additional positions to your portfolios.

INCOME

Thornburg Mortgage Asset Corp (TMA) $21-TMA is a mortgage acquisition company that invests in adjustable rate mortgage securities, providing capital to the single-family housing market. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/02, revenues rose 44% to $402 million. Net income before accounting change and applicable to Common rose from $52 million to $113.3M.

Corporate Hi Yield Fund Inc. (COY) $8.50 - This is a closed end mutual fund that invests in high yield bonds. The fund is doing exceptional.

GROWTH & INCOME

FNB Corporation. (FBAN) $29 - FBAN is a bank holding company primarily operating in three business segments: community banking, insurance agencies and consumer finance. For the fiscal year ended 12/02, total interest income fell 5% to $426.8 million. Net interest income after LLP rose 20% to $262 million. Net income applicable to Common rose 20% to $63.1 million.

First Community Bancshares Inc. (FCBC) $ 33- FCBC is a multi-bank holding company for First Community Bank, with locations in WV, VA and NC. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/02, total interest income rose 4% to $96.2 million. Net interest income after loan loss provision rose 26% to $57 million. Net income rose 29% to $24.7 million.

Nautilus Group Inc. (NLS) $15- NLS is a direct marketing concern that develops and markets premium quality, premium priced branded consumer products, sold directly to consumers through TV commercials, infomercials, print media, mailings and the Internet. For the fiscal year ended 12/02, net sales rose 61% to $584.7 million. Net income rose 47% to $97.9 million.

MODERATE

TEVA Pharmaceutical Industries (TEVA) $45 -Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., through its subsidiaries and associated companies develops, distributes, produces and markets all major theraputic drugs. For the fiscal year ended 12/02, sales increased 21% to $2.52 billion. Net income rose 47% to $410.3M.

Doral Financial Corp (DRL) $37 -Doral Financial is a bank holding company engaged in a variety of mortgage banking, commercial banking and broker-dealer activities, primarily in Puerto Rico. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/02, total interest income rose 17% to $415.6 million. Net interest income after loan loss prov. rose 81% to $145 million. Net income applicable to Common before acct. change rose 61% to $207.2 million.

Brown & Brown (BRO) $32- Brown and Brown, Inc. is a diversified insurance brokerage and agency that markets and sells primarily property and casualty insurance products and services to its clients. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/02, revenues rose 25% to $455.7 million. Net income rose 54% to $83.1 million.

AGGRESSIVE

New Century Financial Corp. (NCEN) $ 33- New Century Financial Corporation is engaged in originating, purchasing, selling and servicing subprime mortgage loans secured by first mortgages on single family residences. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/02, total revenues totaled $606.2 million, up from $293.3M. Net income applicable to Common totaled $179.3M, up from $45.1 million.

Christopher & Banks (CBK) $18 -Christopher and Banks Corp. is a Minneapolis-based regional retailer of women's specialty apparel. As of 6/01/02, the Company operated a chain of 391 stores in 29 states, primarily in the Midwest. For the 39 weeks ended 11/30/02, net sales rose 26% to $243.4 million. Net income rose 24% to $28 million.

First Israel Fund Inc (ISL) $8.64-This is a closed-end mutual fund that invests in stocks in Israel. A turn up in the U.S. market should benefit this stock.

TRADING PORTFOLIO

Synovis Life Technologies (SYNO) $ 11- Synovis Life Technologies, Inc. develops, manufactures and markets branded proprietary and patented specialty medical products for use in thoracic, cardiac, neuro, vascular and ophthalmic surgery. For the three months ended 1/31/03, revenues rose 55% to $12.5 million. Net income rose 58% to $793 thousand.

Endo Pharmaceuticals (ENDP) $14 -ENDP is engaged in the research, development, sales &marketing of branded and generic prescription pharmaceuticals used for the treatment and management of pain. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/02, revenues increased 58% to $399 million. Net income totaled $30.8 million vs. a loss of $36.5 million.

The Singing Machine (SMD) $ 7- SMD is engaged in the distribution and marketing of electronic KARAOKE audio equipment which plays backing tracks of popular songs and records the vocal accompaniment. SING also produces and markets KARAOKE audio software. For the nine months ended 12/31/02, net sales rose 55% to $86 million.
